Given the limited budget, Recto said the government should beef up our health frontline by hiring more health workers, ensuring that they are paid well and are given the necessary tools to protect themselves from the virus. We should also increase the country’s capacity to test, trace and treat.

“Only by doing these things can we get ahead of the virus and regain the confidence of people and businesses leading to the opening of the economy,” Recto said.
