Recto engaged in a bilateral meeting with Swedish Ambassador to the Philippines Annika Thunborg to strengthen the Philippines and Sweden’s partnership and discuss potential areas for strategic investments.Sweden expressed strong interest in collaborating with the Philippines in sustainable transport, energy, digitalization, mining, healthcare, and infrastructure, among other key areas.Secretary Recto took note of the concerns of Swedish investors and pledged to streamline project approval processes for financing and private investments to enhance the ease of doing business in the country. Sweden lauded the ongoing initiatives of the Department of Finance (DOF) to amend the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises Act (CREATE), recognizing its potential to further improve the business environment for Swedish investors in the Philippines.Both sides likewise discussed possible cooperation on Official Development Assistance to further address the financing requirements of the Philippine government for big-ticket infrastructure projects.
